Self-service online marketing firm Constant Contact has just released a report on the state of email marketing that also highlights the rising importance of mobile and social media for small business.
According to the report, there will be 200 billion permission-based emails sent in the United States by the end of 2011 with each email address receiving three permission-based email marketing messages per day, up from two per day in 2009.
The company also claims that organizations combining email marketing with social media such as Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn increased their success even further with an estimated 10 million additional impressions via social.
Mobile is equally compelling for small business marketers with 88% of us now checking email on mobile devices.
The growth of so-called social business has certainly not escaped the attention of online marketing providers with both Constant Contact and competitor VerticalResponse announcing new services within the past several weeks to help businesses manage and measure their social marketing efforts.
