As many of you know Facebook recently updated their Page Insights over the past week. Included is a new metric called “People talking about this.” The metric is not only public on every Fan Page (displayed underneath the Page’s total number of “Likes”) but acts as a catch-all for all viral + social actions that happen across Facebook that mention and include your Fan Page. The infographic below does a great job to further explain and highlight what social actions are measured. It will be interesting to watch how businesses use this new metric to benchmark themselves against competitors and see if this catches on with users — identifying both the Like count and People Talking about This metric as an overall sign of pulse and validation of the Page’s social influence.
